Have You Stopped Meditating?
This happened to me.
After being so passionate about meditation for such a long time and teaching people from all walks of life – including CEOs, entrepreneurs, politicians, doctors, lawyers, parents, school children, people suffering severe depression, anxiousness, cancer patients, other illness and everyone in-between…
I just walked away.
I went back to working in the magazine/digital world and when I did, for some reason, I stopped meditating.
I had a new routine.
I was pre-occupied with my mind filled with new and exciting ways to work.
In the beginning, everything seemed the same and my life ran smoothly.
However, after a few years (I know – a very long time of not meditating), my life became really clunky, things started to go wrong and I was totally out of alignment.
And you know what?
Believe it or not, I just couldn’t work out why!!
I went and saw a friend who is a kinesiologist and had a session to understand why my life had broken down so much.
In a nutshell, I was totally out of alignment with my true spiritual self. I had ignored this part of myself, my true essence, for far too long and as a result my life went off-track.
My homework, from my higher self, was to meditate for 2 hours a day, for eight weeks.
Aarghh! How was I going to fit this into my very busy schedule?
There was no use fighting it as I knew it was make or break time…
I got up the next morning at 5am and meditated for an hour before work and then for another hour when I got home.
I did it for 2 hours every day for 8 weeks!
I’m not going to sugar coat it. It was one of the hardest…yet best things I have ever done.
I didn’t realise how much pain and how many blocks there were in my body.
On some days, I felt as if I couldn’t move properly as there was so much discomfort.
I fought against the process on many occasions. The voice in my head was going wild and giving me every reason was this was all too hard!
I stuck with it.
Slowly, over time the pain started to dissolve and leave my body and I began to feel lighter in my energy.
Like clockwork, the day before the 8 weeks was up, I started to feel amazing.
On the last day, I was having lunch with a girlfriend in Bondi, and I was literally radiant! I was excited, motivated and jumping out of my skin!
I am so grateful for this opportunity as it re-ignited my passion for meditation and the importance of my daily practice.
My new vibrancy attracted the right situations and circumstances into my life and it began to flow in a positive direction again.
I started a new job at a social influence agency and then Covid happened.
With all of the stress and un-certainty of this new pandemic, I had all of these people and corporate companies come out of nowhere to ask me if I could teach them how to meditate.
It was a perfect storm!
In that moment, I decided to create my online course The Meditation Blueprint which is everything I have learnt studying under Deepak Chopra and more (don’t worry, I recommend 20 minutes a day!).
Have you ever stopped meditating?
If so, give yourself a hug for noticing and just go back to your practice – even if it’s just for 5-10 minutes day.
I like to compare meditating with exercise. If you stop exercising, it doesn’t mean you never exercise again. You just go back to the gym/yoga/swimming or whatever form of exercise you do.
Meditation is the same…
If you stop your practice, it doesn’t mean you don’t meditate again. You just go back to doing it again.
Kindest,
Carolyne
